They charge you a $1 to PM people your not connected to. There are a couple classified style groups I'm in to promote business stuff, buy and sell items. Most of these people I don't know and am not "friends" with.

Like today I had something this guy wants to purchase, so I went to PM him a price and it says I can either pay $1 to have my message go to his inbox or my message will go to his "other" box if I don't want to pay.

I guess you can PM friends and family, but other people you can't, unless you want to pay a $1. That sounds like a rip off to me.
