Gillis just got hung by his Luongo contract. Forced to trade his better goalie because of Lou's NTC. Talk is the ownership can't afford to buy out Luongo's contract. (The owner is in the midst of a nasty divorce I believe.)

Apparently the kid we got for Jersey's draft pick is a solid player though so that's good at least. NJ got a killer goalie for a bargain to replace Brodeur (in the long run.) It was a very deep draft this year.

Pens lock up Letang and Kunitz, deal Kennedy to the Sharks, and now try to see if there's any way that they can keep Dupuis.

Bummed that they didn't deal Fleury...looks like they plan to go with the same pair in net next year

Chicago dumped bolland and frolik for draft picks. Rumors are Leddy could be next. They did resign bickell for 4 years at $4m/yr.

The Cup parties just as hard as it's recipients. It's tradition.

Bret Lebda also broke it when Chelios handed it to Lebda who was too drunk to lift it and dropped it...they had to call the guy to come repair it, the bottom popped off of it.

When the Stars won it it made the strop club tour and ended up at the bottom of Hatchers pool.

that's pretty good. on a real note, the cup came back in worse shape after the rangers won in 94. supposedly
had to be refurbished like never before after they treated it so badly dragging it around the city, dropping it
and watching it roll down the street while trying to get in a cab, etc.

I agree it is tough and stupid but is just a hidden rule of hockey players that it is a form of weakness showing any signs of pain you can't shake off. I was taught at age 5 that you had better be really hurt if you lay on the ice and have play stopped...mommy and daddy are not going to come and kiss it and make it all better I only had one injury that prevented me from making the bench my entire life and that was a sprained ACL, ref blew it dead after I was failing hobbling back to the bench. I shook it off and played the rest of the game. Later after adrenaline died I had to go to the hospital, was on crutches for a week and missed 2 games and 3 practices....doctor was a pussy lol

yeah hockey players are one tough bunch, but not always the smartest buncha guys out there when it comes to self preservation...I mean yeah I applaud him for going out there and playing in that condition, but he could have REALLY damaged himself in doing so. Fine line between tough and stupid. I'm gonna say Bergy toed the line on his decision to play like that.
