As far as good and bad in any genre, I'm with Shawn. Lots of great riffs that are suddenly ruined by "HUUUUUUURRRRRR BURRR! BURR BURR BURR! MoooooooooooOooooooOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH RAH! MUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRR OOH!"

In Flames has excellent riffs. Doesn't change that the vocals sound idiotic, and basically like a kid skating on the edge of puberty who is desperately trying to stay as far away from his voice crack as possible by any means necessary.

As with all my posts I will neither support or slag. I'm just posting it for everyones entertainment. Of course everyone has different tastes. The singing style isn't my bag, but I loved seeing this little gal come out and givin er' in a prom dress.

Is this the same worldwide mass entertainment format where fake opera singer with their thin voices, bad technique and need for a microphone make the audience and the judges to cry and to think they suddenly have become connoisseurs of opera, imaging after one performance they suddenly have years of expertise judging the finest bel canto singers in the world, giving them the authority to worship mediocre singers who are incapable of singing a full opera and wont be hired by any major opera house in the world, ever, which is why the end up in a lousy tv show. This is the same format right?

At least the pornstar thing would be honest. Other shows are porn too but hidden under bullshit names.
The "opera" thing in particular is ridiculous. I remember the first time some bloke did it, at first it seemed amazing that anyone would perform something in that vein (even if it's the most overplayed arias) in crap tv program and the moment it seemed that he did a great job for an amateur (as he was promoted, turned out to be bullshit), and then they started coming, mediocre singers with some classical training, saying the sort of crossover crap (à la Andrea Bocelli) they are doing is opera. I wouldn't even know about all this shit if people wouldn't send and post youtube videos of these charlatans all the time.
Sadly I was introduced by my UK friends to such abomination as "Popstar to Operastar". Ok, let's look at the "mentors", Rolando Villazón, nothing to say, he is one of the best. Then..... Katherine Jenkins!!!! Mentoring??????? She can't sing to save her life. That's porn. She's there because of the looks, little above average blond bimbo with tits, typical pornstar. Of course she, the cynics who make these shows and a lot of people watching it have no clue that many world class classical singers and musicians are much hotter the she is. They just have the dignity to stick to something they are good at.

well today I bought with the drummer of my band 6 cd's at the price of 9 euros from the local paperstore.I bought it cause it had Sacred reich's surf nicaragua ...also it inculded nocturnus's threshold album....did some search and found out about Mike Davis and his beautiful Jackson Warrior.....although I'm not still surprised with the tone of the guitar I expected something massiver and more "gainy".I am listening to it at the moment as I'm writting this post and cause its my first experience with death metal officialy I can say that death metal vocals aren't that intelligent....but on the other hand what a band wants to promote as their style comes out of the vocal part too....though death metal singers lack the ability of really singing

If I closed my eyes, she wasn't bad. It felt like she was into it and not just doing it as a joke.

However, chicks doing those types of vocals just doesn't work for me. I like chicks in metal, but they have to sing like chicks (and a little screaming here and there is ok too). It's an old school, sexist feeling, I'm sure. But alas, that's what I think
