  • Unusual keyboard question

The short hit: I'm looking for a keyboard that will play accordion tone(s), ideally including a "musette tone".

The long hit: My elderly mother, a former professional musician and champion accordionist who has played professionally solo & with folks such as Lawrence Welk, Andre Rieu, and Jan & Alex Van Halen is currently disabled, partially because of hefting heavy accordions most of her life (she even has a Cordovox, an electric accordion rig including a 2x12 cab that is even heavier than a standard accordion - as you can probably imagine!)

Now she gets around by wheelchair because she is unable to stand or walk for longer than a minute at a time. And within the last year she has experienced constant debilitation of both her arms, which surgery could not correct. It's very painful to lift her arms above a certain point, so playing her beloved accordions is forbidden by her doctor.

She currently lives alone in another part of the state and although she can still play her baby grand piano, she really misses playing the accs.

So, does anybody know of a keyboard (hopefully not too expensive) that can play accordion tones? Something like a keyboard Axe-Fx would be ideal!

Keyboard Axe-Fx would not be good at all. What you need are real accordion samples. You can run them either on a keyboard which plays samples or on a computer and using a MIDI keyboard.

For example this is one accordion sample package http://www.samplelibraries.com/accordions.html

Pretty much any modern synth should be able to pull off convincing accordion tones.
