I asked my guitar teacher to transcribe that solo for me back when it first came out, and he refused on account of it being "PURE SHIT".

          I dunno, I like it.:dunno:

The guitarists picking technique reminds me of myself.
I'm surprised you actually CAN get fast this way...

But a cool band. Is it a one hit wonder or do they have some albums I should have a look at?

              I loved that Milli Vanilli.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

              I nearly broke her back

BTW I always thought he was a terrible guitarist. no melody, just random guitar wankery. whatever came out, that was the song. no structure, just spewing random notes at speed. I remember seeing them live on SNL, just frickin terrible. wankery. nothing but pure mindless wankery.

they haven't released a bad album yet. I like them all, although all are distinctly different. Maybe start at the beginning, with Vivid, the album this song is from. It'll give you stuff like this:
                    Middle Man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSp9GZ2GHvs
                    Desperate People http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDXq7iOIghw&t=2m27s

The next album gives you stuff like the title track:
                    Time's Up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDw4OiuKeU8
Love Rears Its Ugly Head http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S59ohajHJMc

If you prefer darker & heavier, check out their third album, Stain

They need to bring back the long hair and neon-colored spandex. I saw them not too long ago and they looked like a jazz band trying to play rock.

Now they copy the old 80's Washburn reverse-wedge headstock.....................and for whatever reason Washburn hasn't sued the crap out of them yet for it when ESP has pretty much usurped the design as ESP's signature headstock.

I used to know a guy that played like Vernon Reid and he would say "Look, it's easy to play fast like Yngwie!"

I like Living Color but I preferred this Arsenio Hall clip...

I dig the band. I never thought Vernon was very good. Still don't. His claim to fame is being one of the first black "metal" shredders. I think he is very sloppy as a player although I do like his note selection at times.

I agree he is sloppy. Was watching a recent GW vid where he was showing us the Cult of Personality riff. Way sloppy. He gets it done with the band though, and I think he's a seriously creative cat, particularly his rhythms, chord voicings, melodies. Too many people have judged him solely based on one solo in one song. Great riff writer too.
