  • Anyone ever play any SPINAL TAP songs in their bands?

Hey have any of you people gone to 11 and played any Spinal Tap tunes in your band's live set?

if so, what tunes? how did the crowd react to them? It seems to me there are alot of folks that know "tap" and would be funny to do some live.

A friend and I did "Listen (to what the flower people say)" on two acoustic guitars at a coffee shop about 15 years ago.
It blended right in with the rest of our set list, which included James Taylor and Tracy Chapman tunes.

          Nice!!!!!!!!!!! I like it!!!!

I have always wanted to do "stone henge" I love that break in the middle of the tune that nigel sings:

And you my love, wont you take my hand
we'll go back in time, to that mystic land
where the dew drops cry, and the cats meow
I will take you there, I will show you how

          that stuff is pure classic.

I always loved this sentence in the spoken part:
"Nobody knows who they were, or ..what they were doing"
"There's nothing taking away from the pure masculinity I possess"

My friends & I have been using that quote randomly since the movie came out. Always with the accent. It's amazing how many scenarios it works for.

In college my band played Heavy Duty a few times. Got a few laughs, but a lot more puzzled looks (the movie had only been out a few years and hadn't really reached cult status yet, so it was more of an 'in' joke).

yep!!!! I love the sincere confusion in Nigel's voice for that part.

My guitar solos sound like Nigel Tufnell's, more's the pity.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

                  I nearly broke her back

I did Hell Hole in a band I was in in Texas years ago. Another band I was in played around with Big Bottom, but we never played it live. I still want to though.

I saw Soundgarden play "Big Bottom" once. It was when they toured with Voivod. It went over well...I still remember it ~20 yrs later.
