  • Scam or what?

I have a guitar for sale on Craigslist and I got this today...Now I normally would dispell this, but they are not asking for my bank account and he left his number...What do you guys think?

Am okay with the price of this Unit and the condition of items
and we will like to make an outright purchase of this particular item
immediately because we are in need of it and we want to get as soon as
possible, I anticipate that a Money Order or certified check will be
sent to you via express mail or ups or Fedex as the mode of payment,
concerning the pickup, i will be responsible for that, where the mover
will come for the pick up at your location upon your confirmation of
receiving the payment and i want you to remove this Unit from the AD
now. So i will send the payment which will include the pick up
charges, in which you will make payable to the mover via money
gramm/Western union immediately after you have receive the payment and
you will be compensated with $10 extra for your running around to the
money gram/Western union outlet to avoid the delay. And I would
really love to come for the viewing but due to my work frame that
might not be possible..I want you to provide the
    following payment information.
    full name ...........................................
    full home address (physical
    City.............................................. ..
    state............................................. ...
    zip code..............................................
    tel#.............................................. ....
    As soon as this
is provided i will let you know when payment is mailed out and i will
update you on when you will receive the payment and give you
instructions on what to do.Here is my number incase you want to speak with
me 206 202 2980...thanks and i hope we handle this in good faith.
    Thanks.

Obviously, you want to sell it, but I wouldn't even reply to that one. If it doesn't feel right...then it ain't right! And that one ain't right!

    My two cents....Good Luck.

Its BS ive had 2 different guitars for sale on craigslist and i got a million emails like that. Try to top this rediculous shit,

      Hello,

Thanks for your reply, i am happy to hear back from you, i'm
okay with the price and condition. But i'm presently out of the
states,i'm presently in England where i work as an Engineer, so
i'll like to see the transaction go smoothly without my
      appearance.
Concerning the shipment.you do not need to worry about it,
i have a reputable shipping company that will handle the
shipment. There is this reliable colleague of mine that resides
in Alaska,he's owing me $3600 so i'll instruct him to send you
a Cashier's check or Money Orders of that $3600 and as soon as
you receive it, you'll have to cash it and you should deduct
your own portion of the funds which is $650 from the payment,
then you'll have to get the rest money sent via western union
money transfer to the shipping company that will be coming for
the pick up from your house and other items which they're to
ship to my house in the states...

The reason why am sending you that much money is because if
I send my shipping company a seperate check it would take
about 30 working days to clear the check in uk, London while it
takes only 2-3working days for the check to be cleared in the
      United States.
I will be compensating you with $50 after the transaction for
the stress you may go through,so you will have to deduct the
total of $700 from the funds and send the remaining amount to
my shipping company. Please note that all transfer charges will
be deducted from the excess funds you'll be sending to the
shipping company, not with your own personal money. So i hope
you'll be able to help me out in doing this,if so,you'll have
to email me the following details so that payment could be
mailed out to you at once...
1,Name to be written on the Check .....................
2,Full address to send the Check to....................
      3,Your contact phone number(Home & Cell)...............
I look forward to your quick response.
      Best Regards.
      Harry Martins.

      N.B,
The reason why the shippers amount is a little bit expensive
is because they would also be shipping some goods for me from
Japan to my house in Wyoming ,so that is why i want you to help
      me in cashing the check.

Total scam. Buyers who say "this Unit" and "the mover" are doucebag scammers.

Scam. When selling on Craigslist, tell them you only take cash and they need to pick it up in person themselves and not some "mover" or "agent". If someone tells you they'll send you a money order or cashier's check, you can pretty much guarantee it'll be fake and you'll be fucked.

Craigslist sucks. Ive got a vehicle listed right now and Ive gotten all sorts of bullshit scams and the usual assortment of people who just want to converse through email endlessly asking all sorts of ridiculous questions and fixating on stupid details that mean nothing. Lots of weirdos and scammers out there.

I did think it was a scam, but it was the person giving me a number that threw me...I have not seen that before...Just wanted to see what everyone here thought...I never intended to send him my Rhoads...

I had almost the same message regarding a drumset I was selling. Needless to say, they didn't get it. No way was I having any part of that.

If someone responds to an ad about a guitar and calls it "the item" or "the unit" I would be pretty suspicious.

I just reread it again, and it was just about exactly the same, word for word. I wish I still had it.
