I did not spend 3 days "trying" to sand it down. I spent 20 minutes a day for 3 days grinding it back and forth against a bastard file until it fucking fit.

Then, I re-drilled the holes and screwed that sonofabitch on, and I'm probably good for 10+ years of staying in tune action, which can't be said for the piece of shit import nuts by a long shot.

The OFR nut is worth the effort. Plus my right arm can crack walnuts now.

Wrong again. None of the parts are new, they are all genuine 'vintage' parts specifically selected to be from the correct time period for the guitar I'm building. The nut was an error as it was sold to me as genuine vintage 80's OFR, but in fact was Licensed and was worn sufficently to let me down. Pretty simple stuff.

Try reading the thread- It's for a Frankenstrat. Heard of it? Didn't think so.

Yeah ok I deserved that. I was a tad pished last night and took umbrage to your reply to my suggestion so apologies for being a dickhead.
Each to their own, I made a similar suggestion to a guy on here regarding a trem arm and he was really pleased with it when he got it which was why I even bothered to suggest the import one.

If you want the best of gear it's nothing to do with me.

Where are you getting your parts from for this (and yes, I do know what the guitar is)? I know from experience Scotland's not exactly a hot bed of good quality, reasonably priced parts.

No worries.

To be honest I've managed to source everything via eBay, mostly the US site. I've taken the hit on whether I get stung by the import tax or not. Sometime not, and with the favourable exchange rate I get a deal. Often not though!

The neck I commissioned via another forum and I made the body, so it's just hardware I needed.

Yeah I've got a few things off the US Ebay, it pisses me off so much when they slap the import tax on it - especially if it's on something that only cost a few quid.
