    No, he wouldn't even have a single coil since the white wire wasn't grounded. He'd have a floating single, way less power than a single.

      I have no idea what, technically, or electrically, it works out as. But I did the same thing when I fitted an Invader and it sounded like a single coil to me.

        All you guys who don't like your Invaders can send them to me.

        I've had nothing but good results from the Invader, whether in ash or basswood, which are tonally very different. I needed something that sounded "brutal" while in standard tuning, and suitable for both rhythm and lead, but balanced so that I wouldn't have to fight with my EQ. Hell, I can even get decent cleans out of a split SH-8.
