Duncan Custom Custom. I'm "manly metal" to the point of auditioning for friggin Manowar with that pup.

Keep the JB but throw in a 250k pot for the volume instead of the 500k.. Youll get a fuller fatter sound with better mids and less harsh high end.

JB has no gain? Is your wiring okay?

You say you dont like actives, I assume you mean EMG. Try Blackouts, they're awesome.

Another Vote for the Duncan Custom here. I think it sounds better with a guitar tuned down a 1/2 step as well.

I keep one guitar set-up for high gain rhythm work, and I´ve had a DiMarzio Megadrive in there for the last few years. It´s pretty hot, and has awesome clarity... you can hear every note in a chord even with tons of gain and it´s also good for chuggachug stuff. For leads it´s a bit too thin in the mids for my taste, but I suppose more aggressive players could enjoy it more in that department!

Didn't like the Duncan Custom at all in my RR3. I preferred the Invader I had in there previously, but the Blackouts blow ANYTHING and EVERYTHING out of the water. Fucking superb pickups.

I have blackouts in my KV and they are good pickups, but in my MX-II the bass over powered everything.

                    J90c?

                    So, what's wrong with it?
                    I love it!

Well I just plugged my 30 watt Marshall combo to my Jackson 4x12 cab and pulled out the Charvel model 88 and wow clean, clear, punchy, thick, fat, crunchy all of the above so I vote for the J-95.This pickup has big balls.
Never really cranked the J-95 in the past but it opens up and gets so dynamic at loud volume. Not a stich of mud at all.
                      Really? well screw Mark Twain.

try the Reflex pups. they have the charactor if passives but are high out put and killer tone. I like them 1000 times better than EMGs..

Personally, I like the Seymour Duncan Invader.
