Yep. This is why I am usually hesitant to give advice about lowering action here to someone who just got a used guitar. Without having it in front of you, there's no way to know what the right thing to do is. Could be the bridge height, could be the relief. So +2 to the Erlewine book. Best to read up & get to know how it all relates before starting to make adjustments.

Thanks for all the advice. In the end, I think I will get a copy of that book by Dan Erlewine so I can learn "what's what". Truss Rod? No clue.

Dan Erlewine has the 3rd Edition coming out soon.

The internet has some good sites out there. What I would do.. buy yourself a cheap guitar and use that one as your lab rat.
