Ebony or Maple board on a neck thru maple/maple bodied guitar?

    Since the tone is going to be about the same I think you should figure out which looks the best with your color choice.

      All-maple guitars are a tricky thing. They are definitely always on the bright side, but sometimes it's a really good tone and far more useable than one would think. It's just the luck of the draw with the wood and the interaction with the other components- pickups, amp, etc.

      Personally, I would pick the ebony neck last, as I think it will put it over the top. I think that a maple neck would be a better choice between the two. Give rosewood some more consideration, as I think it will warm things up a little bit. In my personal experience with maple bodied/neck guitars, my favorites have had a rosewood (maple 2nd) board.
