    I'm gonna guess they use Dupont or PPG liquid metal etch. I've used the stuff on aluminum and carbon steel auto parts with great success.

      Just remember, that paint on those pickups will wear off some. Even if it takes a couple of years of playing everyday. I know it's thick paint, but it will wear off in spots where you hit the pickups with your pick. I wish I could show you a picture of my old Jackson from 1990. They told me it wouldn't happen either. There is no way I would have the pickups painted on a new CS.

        Yes, over a long time of agressive playing you will get fade, notice the "Pig Sweat" Dinky's bridge humbucker. The pickup mounting ring is losing some paint, as is the middle single coil on the same edge. But that guitar is 18 years old!!! The others are relatively new and really don't show any wear.
