if you're causing noticable damage on the fretwire in just two months, then there's something wrong in your style. if you're getting the right feeling by smashing the strings against the fretboard, it's not a problem for me unless it's my guitar there is a trade off like every thing in life and if you want the cure, that it is what I've written above. You may slightly improve the fret life by lightly applying some machine oil on the frets every now and then.

I have a daily played 12 year old LP which has narrower frets (which means they should wear faster) than on that kv2 and they still stand like brand new. I'd be really sorry to see the fret over bindings being damaged during a refretting process.

btw bibz, theoretically larger frets should add brightness (not mass) to tone but I've never experienced that difference personally on any of my guitars. for example this gentleman says it has a tremendous effect on tone which I totally disagree.

It's all a bout the tone and feel IMO.

Your touch on the guitar makes all the difference. I'm not pushing the strings with Hill giant strength, but I play the way I need to play. It changes your tone a lot. And since the other guys said that it's normal, then there's no problem. And yes, I'm going for the Gary Moore'ish feel most o' the time, too
      I wish my hair-color was EDS :/

I've never put significant wear on the frets of any of my guitars, even the ones I play regularly. Maybe I have a very light touch, I don't know.

a possibility is that it is just an illusion because the areas particularly near the strings look shiny-er.... i live in a humid climate so sometimes there is a big difference.

just clean it and it should be alright.. after cleaning supposedly it'll look normal (ie the shine is the same)
