High E slips off fretboard with OFR

I see a lot of Charvels with the Floyd trem (such as some of the new US models), are the necks wider to accomodate the string spacing? Would different gauge strings make a difference?

I have an M6 that had the JT6 replaced with an OFR, and I've never had any problems with strings slipping. It's easier to slip on my 750XL, which still has its original JT-590...
