check your local autobody supplie store ask for plastic parts stripper lees reactive as aircraft stripper -its way to strong for the wood yes it will penetrate the wood & cause problems with paint finish.i think youll get what yor looking for-they also should be able to hook you up with a good clear sealer to hold any chemical reactions back.dont leave on to long rinse & use commpressed air between applications clean thouroly when done you should be alright
