I totally agree with Jacksonite, LeoKV2, and Charvelrocker, DR is the only thing I use for exactly the same reasons.

DR's shouldn't be costing you $10.99, I get the Tite Fit for $5.99 every day at GC/SamAsh:

As I said, Your too careful and clean with your description of methods, to warrant such discoloration. Its an oxidation problem either involving you and your acidity level, or the strings and you, or the strings and the frets.

I just checked, 6.5months! and they still sound and feel great! And its had some serious hours on it in that time.

I found them really nice, coated strings feel different and sound different. These were (and still are!) very crisp on the treble side, and nice and chunky/crunchy on the bass end. Oh, and they're the coolest shit ever colour wise! After these I tried the elixir's and I like them too, I'd suggest a pack of them for the maple. They're nice and soft and slinky, and still sound sparkly after a couple of months too!

For those of us that switch between multiple guitars with different setups/tunings these strings save me alot of money! Not picking up a guitar for a month now no longer means its dead! Though the strings lasting so long isn't good for my now grubby and probably dry ebony board!

Free at last! Free at last! DR's in "Devil Red" not only look killer..(going
to get the blue ones though, to match the HRF of the Charvel blue!)
After 2 hours of hard sliding, and not giving a "F** about the fretboard,
NOTHING is there! I mean nothing. Just like before i even put them on!
I was hoping for maybe a 1/3rd of the shadowing, and dust, but 0!
Man, am i a DR disciple now! Thanks for your input guys.. i was freaking.
            Ernie Ball, can bite me!
