      Can overheating break the pot?

          Also, try getting as much of the tip on the pot as possible. Get the iron as parallel as you can with the pot, but be careful not to touch any of the other wires with the stem. This way, you get more heat than you would with just the very tip touching.

            A chisel tip works best.I use a RS 20-40 watt iron and do tin your tip often.
