What are the symptoms for worn floyd studs?

    Yep, what Rick said. I think you've found your problem. You shouldn't be able to change pitch at all, unless maybe the nut is loose? If so, again there's your problem.

      Ahhh... I replaced the string locking clamps on the nut(and the Floyd baseplate to one I had lying around). Now It's tuned to E standard with 10's and it's much better! Don't dare to say perfect because I whammied like a crazy person last night at midnigth and it still was in tune when I checked, and I haven't checked since

      Thanx for the help, I really appreciate your expertise, keeps me from going insane from all my can't-stay-in-tune axes
