Okay, isolate the cab. Hmm... now that you say that, I think I've once seen someone use a very small room as an isolation box for guitar & bass cabs.

Zakk Wylde did that quite a long time ago (not sure if he still does or not). He talked about being in the studio and having his guitar cabinet(s) mic'd in a room all alone and plugged into the cranked head in another room. He said you wouldn't want to go into the room with the cabs because they were loud as hell and pushing a lot of air.
