    Got me too!
Now that I re-read the post, I don't know why I thought the question was about nut shims.

I use a self stick aluminum tape from 3m, the same stuff they use to fix holes in planes. Works great for shimming up a locking nut as well

Thanks guys.. yep - I was asking about trying to adjust the neck angle a bit, not the shims for the nut....

To summarize, the consensus is use any old crap you have lying around :ROTF:

I remember years ago, I bought a Kahler to add to my guitar and if I recall, the instructions stated to use pennies to create the angle needed. I remember doing that and it worked fine.

But that's just my 2 cents!!! (I was serious about the pennies though!)

They also make shims for Floyd saddles.

I sometimes get a feeling that great tone is not exactly a priority for some, but if you do care a bit about tone, I'd recommend the more tedious option of making a "proper" wood shim.

Credit cards, paper and other assorted materials may work in that you get the required neck angle, but they lower the contact surface of the neck joint and affect negatively the resonance.
