I agree. I rarely pay more than a couple hundred dollars for a guitar, and even THAT hurts, cause I work hard for my money, am almost always strapped for cash, and I know that eventually, it's gonna get nicked up, and worn. I, too prefer bolt-ons for the same reason.
When I was turning wrenches, in my other hobby (muscles cars), I applied the same principles. And while I DEFINITELY appreciated what they refer to as "Trailer Queens" (All show and no go), if I wanted a work of art, I'd buy a velvet Elvis (enter sarcasm, here), but if I wanted my money's worth, I'd buy a REAL musclecar. Same applies to my gear.
