How did the contact cleaner manage to get under the finish?
They evaporate within seconds unless you spray a whole chunk of them in a concernated area.

i hear ya, and i never would have worried about that, but it's possible that it can get through the control holes and go from there. maybe he'll chime in and post those pix again.

It'd be great if he could chime in.
I remember seeing the pics, but didn't know that it was the work of the contact cleaners.

Here's the thread. No more pics, but Ken explained what happened pretty well.

Thanks! But it's still seems to be a quiz to me as contact cleaners (without CFCs) are pretty safe on most surfaces.

                Re: Removing stickers

My theory is that it got in between the clear & the eerie dess paint layers at the holes for the pots. Contact cleaner is designed to really spread out & seek crevices. I've noticed that swirl & marbelizer paint jobs seem to be more prone to chipping & weird issues with adhesion to the other paint layers, so it may not have taken much to screw it up bad once it got under the clear. Just a theory.

Thanks, Tim! I wanted to clean it up a bit and take pics before starting a LWIG thread. I'm waiting on a truss rod cover too.

Sticker will probably go to my guitar tech, Ace.
