not. the finish is done by spreading a thinned finish with a dry airbrush, blown with compressed air to create the "trails".
you can see the "spots" of concentrated air where this type of where applied.

The guy who started that look back in the 80s in LA was Jonathan Hays. here is an example of a bc rich I used to have with that same style.

Was that guitar more red or pink in real life?

This guitar was extremely bright pink. almost day glow.
