Cavity grounding - worth it?

I just rewired my DKMGTFF and didnt bother putting the cavity grounds back, and it didnt make any noticeable diff to me (axewielder is pretty much dead on how I feel about as thats pretty much what I said in another thread). I did however experiment with running shielded coax cable(guitar input cable) from the o/p jack to the volume pot(I removed my tone pot), it made a big diff to my ears.

+1. I always wondered how effective it really is considering the pups are widey-ass open in the front. Your EMI is mostly coming in from the front anyways. I guess for Maximum Shielding you really need to have metal covers on the pups, with the covers having continuity with the shielding. My deep thought for the day, anyway.

Yeah I've always gotten EMI through the pickups. I can't think that shielding of any sort would prevent that. Maybe I have some shielding tape in my drawer so I can try it out.
