Well, I take it that an artist has to pay for a Signature model, all I'm saying is that why would Phil go for MOTO's when he has the money to go for the top quality stuff you'd expect on a guitar. Or am I just being a N00b again?

The artist doesn't pay for his import sig model, they play USA customs. Its the jackson businesspeople who determine what specs the imports should have. Demmel probably won't ever play the Japan made version of his guitar.
