  • dk1 pickup selecter switch question

Hope all is well with everyone.

My dk1 has started to act a little funny. I swapped the pickups around awhile ago. I now have a emg 85 at the bridge and emg 60 at the neck. All was cool for awhile, but now I have to toggle the selector knob several times to get the 60 to engauge. I have no issues with the 85. where would you start to figure out what is wrong? thanks for the input.

check the soder connections to the switch, or the switch could have went bad.

Yea I kinda thought it might be the switch. I have issues with it since I bought this guitar new. Most of the time it works perfect. Other times it doesnt work with the 60 or I get static... blah. I just wanted to make sure there wasnt something special I forgot to do when I installed the 60. I was pretty sure all I had to do was plug it in.

Any suggestions on what replacement switch to purchase?

I had to replace the switch in my DK1. It was doing the same thing as yours.

Open the cavity up and bend the contacts inwards - I've had a the same problem, I think because most of us use the bridge pickup most of the time, so the neck pickup contact spends most of its time bent away, so eventually it just stays bent. I started leaving the toggle in the 'both' position when I wasn't playing so both contacts are engaged....

My guess is a cold solder joint.
