  • Got a line on a 'prototype' rhoads.

Guy says it's pre-production. Dot inlays, neckthrough.
I'll have the serial # tonight. Old guy owns it-wants to sell.
More later- I'll need you guys to help with dating it.

    Serial # is:

    J301 088

on the fingerboard. Older jazz guy has it.
Can anyone help identify this one?
    Thanks

With that serial, I'd say it's a Japan-made "Rhoads Std" from the early 90's.

Not 100% sure but I think the old Prototype RR's had no serial number. They started the production models after Randys with the RRXXXX format I think starting with RR0001

Sounds like a 1993 Japanese Rhoads Professional Model.
What does he mean with "pre"? Pre 1994?

so it's a pre-pro with a production serial number? If they used J301088 in pre-production, what did they start with when the line actually went into production?

                  I didn't believe it either.
He said he called Jackson and they told him that.
I wonder if he lies to his wife too?:ROTF:

Ah, but he didn't say "Jackson Guitars" specifically did he? Lots of Jacksons in the world. LOL
