  • What are good locking tuners for my SL2HT

I want to replace the stock tuners on my Sl2HT with locking tuners. Does anyone know of any that would work well. I want to use the same screw holes that are already there - I don't want to drill new holes.

Wilkinson EZ-LOK tuners would be direct (no drilling) replacements and are only like $30 from GuitarFetish.Com, although they are basically just standard tuners with a second screw-hole on each post. The strings lock under their own tension. I have some in a Dinky and they are more precise than Sperzels. Haven't tried Schallers yet.

Planet Waves locking tuners drop right in. No screws, no drilling. Search the forums for them and you'll find many threads. I got some and love 'em.

Standard Jackson tuners are made by Gotoh.

Gotoh Magnum Lock tuners should be direct replacement.

Grover makes a great locking tuner and the screws holes line up perfect. The only thing is that the buttons look quit different than the stock Gotohs.

The think I like about them is that they are cam locking. Pull the string tight and start turning and that locks the string in.

Personally, I think it's wrong that they are represented as true locking tuners, becuase you still wind your string part-way around, and there is no locking mechanism. However, they look identical to the stock tuners (minus the Jackson logo) and seem pretty secure so far. I'm going to buy another set one of these days for my next project.
