  • what USA Jackson to buy?

Just had a friend over tonight. He played my new DK1 and loved it. He wasnt sure about the EMG pickups. He has played a Fender Strat for his entire guitar playing life. Which is about 14 years. He plays very well but is not to tech minded. Neither am I. So the question is, can someone break down the differnce between the new Jacksons. He is set in his mind that it must be a USA model. I dont know enough about the others to compair them to my DK1. He wants to know what to expect sound wise from them. Thanks for your time.

if he likes your dk2 but not sure about the emg's. he should try an sl1.
if he's been playing strats and likes jacksons now. he can't go wrong with an sl1.

Floyd or no Floyd? Anyway I would say for general purpose a soloist. But if it were me a RR wold be ideal....great player as well as stage presence. Maybe a Kelly too....or wait a King V would be great as well, or a warrior maybe.......just buy any one that strikes you at the moment or but em all

Like what everyone else said, buy one of each!

As for what your friend might like, a SL1 or SL2 may be the choice.

If he likes strats he should look at:

              SL1 (1hum 2singles, floyd)
              SL2H (2hums, floyd)
              SL2HT (2hums, string thru)

PC1 - strat-like body, HSS, Floyd, maple fretboard, bolt-on, and strathead.

wow that questions really out there. i'm going to assume he like bolt on strat shaped guitars, so dinky model or a soloist... i would recommend him to stay away from the floyd for his first

A Soloist would be the best bet IMO. He's already used to the Strat shape, and a new USA model would have Duncans so he wouldn't have to put up with EMG's since he doesn't like them.

                          I'd recommend a PC-1.

+1 ....And with the PC1, you get the sustainer. A real nice toy!
