• need your help to choose from USA select gears

Hi friends,

I have planned to buy a new gear from Jackson USA select. at beginning I was intrested to SL1 or 2 but it seems they both have a thick necks. I need this to be fast enough for heavy metal.
problem is that I can not try any of them cause they're not available here! so please helpppppp.

good LOCK

Ummm, have you ever heard of the band Halford? The two guitarists both used Soloists, and they're fast enough for anything you might be thinking about.

My sl2hmah is ALOT thinner than my les paul, but not as thin as a wizard 2 neck on an ibeenhad.

I was just up @ my local Guitar Center today, and got to play on a USA Select SLATQH, like this one:

Man, did this guitar totally play like a dream, and it sounded as kick-ass as it played...Like that it's a non-tremolo and an archtop too; I want one of these now, myself!
(P.S.: I have never played on a single Jackson guitar that DIDN'T have a great, thin, fast neck in my life! That was the whole reason I started using these guitars years ago, was precisely because of their necks, none can compare to them IMHO..)

Depends on your amp, and your sub-genre of Metal:
Death, Black, Nu, Rap, Thrash, Speed, Glam, Grindcore, Hardcore, Deathcore, Satanic, Punk, Hair, Power, or Brutal?

Pickups are your preference - everything from Duncan to DiMarzio to EMG will be suggested by everyone who passes by, and everyone will say a different one is "best".
There's no "most popular" to pick from, because each brand/type has the same amount of votes every time.

As for speedy necks, that's more in the player than the neck; I've got a Rhoads with a neck like a Classical (JCF01) and it's just as fast as a Les Paul, a Soloist, a Warrior, a Dinky, and the Ibenhad (Wizard profile) I used to have, and each one has a different neck profile.

Personally, I'd go with a KE-2 in trans-green...

The newer soloists do have pretty thick necks. Thicker than I like as well, that's why I sold my SL2GX... it played well, and even though it had the thinner profile, it was not thin enough for me.

Well it's thin enough, but not neck through body!
I also don't like EMSs as much as Duncan!

The fastest neck on anything I own is probably my USA Fusion but it's also a bolt-on. It would be tough to choose a second as many of my others are fairly close.

This is just my opinion, but I don't believe that the thinnest neck is always the "fastest" neck. It comes down to comfort and what feels good to play on. I've played on some really thin necks (like some of the I-been-hosed necks) that just drive me nuts - way too uncomfortable. And yet, the strathead neck on one of my Jacksons is incredibly thick (maybe a '59 LP carve?) and yet I find it comfortable and "speedy" to play on.
