[ QUOTE ]
After the small logoed, numbered Model series, I'm just not that familiar with the Charvel import line. I honestly thought a non-trem one didn't exist.

The Model 7 is the only one that immediately springs to mind. The Model 1, 1A & 1C all had trad trems, which you can crank down to effectively make a hardtail.

Re: My sons first guitar (help)

I'd actually suggest a JS model with a tonepros style bridge.
You said it's his first guitar, I think it's a bit of a risk to spend 600$ on a first guitar.

I'd say buy a JS30 DKT and put the other 300$ towards a nice first amp and effect pedal... like a crate GT1200h half stack and digitech pedal.

If you meant he can already play guitar but this is his first good guitar or first Jackson, than I'd suggest the DKMGT. I think the SLSMG goes for like 200$ more than what your budget is.

SLSMG.....definitely! Or...if he wants to go flashy, and pointy...something from the JS series....and that would leave him room to buy an amp too.
