  • Adrian Smith Jackson US Neck profile?

I can't find anywhere the shape of the Adrian neck. I can read the radius is compound 12 to 16, but no info on the neck shape.

Is it Charvel like, thin Jackson or Fender Strat shape?

Everyone I've played is more Jackson/Charvel than Fender.

But, at the same time, considering that both of these companies put out numerous necks, I guess it means nothing saying "it's a Jackson neck".

So is it C shape like a Strat?

My 2000 American Strat: (maple board)
Width at nut = 1.688 inch
          Width at 3rd fret = 1.766 inch
          Width at 12th fret = 2.036 inch
          Thickness at 3rd fret = 0.865 inch
          Thickness at 12th fret = 0.877 inch
Shape is definitely a constant round “C” shaped, standard Fender neck

My USA Adrian Smith (ebony board) serial 0083xx
Width at nut = 1.6925 inch
          Width at 3rd fret = 1.810 inch
          Width at 12th fret = 2.089 inch
          Thickness at 3rd fret = 0.790 inch
          Thickness at 12th fret = 0.847
Shape is “D” shaped (or ‘flattened’ C), definitely standard Jackson feel

My USA Adrian Smith (maple board) serial 0073xx
Width at nut = 1.690 inch
          Width at 3rd fret = 1.786 inch
          Width at 12th fret = 2.070 inch
          Thickness at 3rd fret = 0.752 inch
          Thickness at 12th fret = 0.808 inch
Shape is same as the other one, “D”, standard Jackson feel

Damn, darrenw5094 hit the jackpot with that info.
            96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

Yeah, that's probably the best response to a neck spec question I've ever seen!

I'm always wanting to do get detailed measurements on my necks, but I always forget to do it when the strings are off lol

I've been interested in this model myself but I'd really like to try one first. Seems like a pretty thin neck, according to the specs. Let us know if you get one, would love to know what you think

you don’t need to take the strings off to measure the neck thickness, just use these calipers:

I picked up a USA Adrian Smith last year with ebony board. The neck is generally similar to premium Charvel/Jackson bolt-on superstrats, although it separates them from the run of the mill by having extraordinarily good fretwork and overall quality. The USA version is not just an expensive version of the import! It is leagues better!

Isn't that true of all the guitars.

The gap is sometimes not as wide as it once was. There are some amazing import values out there these days. But the USA Adrian Smith is worth the premium for sure...

I am going to guess that it is because most of the USA guitars are now mass produced. You are no longer getting 1 of 500, you are getting 1 of 10,000 or you could get an MiM which is 1 of 50,000.
