The back of the neck has a natural stain in one area that is from the wood itself and Jackson was going to dump the guitar but CMC accepted the KV anyway and sold it a little cheaper because of the cosmetic stain. To me it is no big deal, I like unfinished necks for their feel when playing and could care less how they look, it's on the back of the neck anyway but for Jackson I'm sure they wanted to trash it thinking nobody would want to buy it.
Looks like a bit of grain rather than a stain. Why would they make a whole guitar and then say "meh, there is a spot on the neck...firewood"?
