  • Need help identifying a Jackson guitar by model number

I'm looking at making a trade for what appears to be a USA made Jackson RR1. The number stamped at the end of the neck is U11738. My hesitation is that in looking at Jacksons site, their model numbers don't match up to this, but they also don't go past like 2001. How can I know for sure this is not a fake, and is there any way to identify when and where it was made? Any help from the experts at this forum would be most appreciated.

Sounds like a standard USA Select RR1 to me. here's what the Jackson site says about RR serials:

    1. All Randy Rhoads neck-through-body guitars were given “RR****” serial numbers from 1983 to spring 1990. After that, only custom Rhoads guitars bore “RR****” serial numbers; production Rhoads guitars were considered “USA” models and given “U0****” serial numbers.

U11738 should be late 2002 or early 2003.
      96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.
