  • Outdoor DR2 USA porn

Over the weekend, I played my "new" `97 USA DR2 live for the first time at an outdoor festival. The wife bought it for me as a Christmas present last year, and I replaced the stock Screamin' Demon bridge pickup with an SD Alternative 8 shortly after. This is only the second DR2 I've seen in this finish in my life - the first one was brand new at Guitar Center many years ago - and my wife remembered that I really liked it.

Anyway, enough words . . . here are pictures:

cool!! that is a nice looking guitar. i like the "2" series because of the lack of inlays. gotta keep my eye out for one of those...
      GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

      and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

And thank you for adding pickup rings, all Ive ever seen on a DR is direct mount, which IMO is goofy. Thats a nice axe. I too admire the lack of inlays.

The new one I saw years ago (new) was tagged Gun Metal Grey, but the catalog entry is Graphite. However, the color is definitely closer to GMG, while the Graphite finish on my DR3 mutt is much darker and would pass for black unless you compared to a plain black finish under direct light. Both guitars have ash bodies. But of course, Jackson was inconsistent - the 1996 catalog was the only year to list an ash option for the DR2, but Graphite was listed as an available finish in both `96 and `97 catalogs even though Graphite was only ever offered on ash bodies - so it doesn't surprise me that the DR2 I saw at GC years ago was marked as Gun Metal Grey. The GMG finish on the SL2 Soloist from the same period is definitely a bit lighter, but probably would look identical without a glossy clearcoat.

I also have a DR2 in Cobalt Blue Satin (CBS) on an ash body, and a TH-2 Stealth with the same finish over ash. Ash is my favorite body wood, although Jackson never did seem to equip any of these guitars with pickups that sound good in such a bright, "snappy" wood. My favorite is the Duncan Invader for the best punch in a mix, but the Full Shred and Alternative 8 are great too.

Never seen a DR2. They look killer. Will have to be on the prowl now for one.
                  Thanks for the GAS.

I have seen that finish once before (I think it was the blue that VitaminG mentioned) and really liked it.

Very cool axe, and very cool wife for not only remembering what you liked, but buying it for you too!

Here is the CBS (Cobalt Blue Satin) DR2 she bought me back in `99. I saw it at GC, she put it on layaway without telling me, and of course I freaked out when I went back to buy it and it was gone. She actually did something similar with the new one, conspiring with the shop so that I couldn't buy it myself.

Yup, that's the same as the one I saw.

Killer guitars, and very funny that your wife worked with the shop to mess with you!
