  • NGD - 2007 Jackson SL1T (Natural)

Snagged this one from my local Jackson/Charvel dealer. When I picked her up off the wall, she was in desperate need of a setup. The neck had a serious forward bow (the strings were easily an inch off the fretboard at the 12th fret) and the frets were just plain nasty feeling and looking. Also, the fretboard was incredibly dry. I talked the manager down quite a bit and scored some free strings as well.

After stripping it down and cleaning everything up, I restrung it with .009-.042 Slinky's and set the intonation. Now it's an absolute monster. This guitar has the lowest action and slinkiest feel of any guitar I've ever owned, including my custom shop Charvel's. Even with the low action, the sustain is very impressive and I'm quite pleased with the tone of this guitar.

Anyway, enough talk: time for the pr0nz!

And yes: this guitar has sat on that wall at the dealer since it was born in '07.

    Merry Christmas to me!

To be honest, I was holding out on buying this one because of the fact it was a hardtail. I'm so used to having a Floyd that I wasn't sure how I'd adjust to the change. However, these are great sounding guitars and the tuning stability is fine so long as the strings stretch out. I've spent the past 3 hours jamming out with it and I haven't had to retune it yet.

Now I just want the snow white RR1T they have as well...

              Looks awesome.

If she was mine, I'd change the hardware for gold though ^^.

                  Already in the works, bro.

I'll have this one finished being pimped out in mid January after I get back from Christmas leave. Watch this space!

If you can remove the chrome ferrules without damaging the body I hope.

Distortion in the bridge, Hot Rails in the neck. I have the pickups, just waiting for the rest of my hardware to get here.

Wilkinsi, I've been looking more and more into the ferrules and I'm not sure how they're going to get swapped. I'll figure out how I'm going to do it, though.
