“Matt Nelson's iconic custom made Jackson bass rocks the world stage again in the hands of STEEL PANTHER's Lexi! Matt is good friends with the members of Steel Panther (he sang backing vocals on their first two albums) and the Turquoise bass Grover Jackson and Matt designed together in 1989 (it was on the cover of the After The Rain album and in the video for that song) came up in a discussion...it had just returned home after being displayed at the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame and Matt knew Lexi was the right guy to bring it out of retirement. Matt and Gunnar have guested as vocalists at Steel Panther shows before, but from now on NELSON will be onstage with STEEL PANTHER every gig...well, at least Matt's bass'll be there @steelpanther #steelpanther #nelson #nelsonband”

I should have read that caption in the second pic for the history of that bass!

Too funny, I had never heard of Nelson until I recently read Bobbie Brown's memoir and her connection to the two brothers, and now thanks to the above caption I find out that Steel Panther is friends with Matt Nelson. The three-way connection is complete because Bobbie stars as Lexxi's mom in Steel Panther's acoustic album "Live From Lexxi’s Mom’s Garage".

Cool. I knew it looked like something I'd seen before, but didn't realize it was Matt Nelson's. Nelson had talent, but were never really my thing.

I suppose Lexxi has practically inherited Matt Nelson's Jackson Concert bass because he's using it a lot.

It's in the new Steel Panther video, attached below.

Lexxi also seems to have a different Concert bass, one with the pickguard that is similar to the Jeff Beck guitars and SL4X. Might be one of the current X Series Concert basses. https://www.jacksonguitars.com/gear/...-bass?sort=new
