  • Charvel Japan custom shop?!??

Just came across this on evil
    http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=271244662650

Looks like a regular elim 4 with a drop tuner. He claims it's a Japanese custom shop model and makes no mention of the model any where in the ad. He says he knows Grover and was the exclusive charvel dealer in Arkansas for years. I'd be pretty pissed if I thought I was buying a custom shop bass and it wasn't.

      Not a Custom shop.
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

Not a CS... but a number of unique one-offs, pre-production samples and limited non-US market guitars and basses were built though. In the overall scheme of things, they're rare and far between, however they're not all that valuable unless you can find the MIJ J.E.Lee Strathead or one of the other Stratheads they made. Those would probably hit >$1000 if two people recognize exactly what they were and wanted them badly....

I hope my Elim-5 hits a grand someday in the future. ( highly doubtful ) Not in the catalog, nowhere have I seen another one online in 15 years....
In fact I would never have known this unit existed except for a friend on TalkBass knows I like em and sold it to me cheap as part of a trade. Said he got it while he was in Japan which makes sense.

I have heard some people say the C in the serial numbers on the model 5 and 6 neck thru guitars meant custom shop but I doubt is to be honest.

Thanks I heard that C stuff years ago and thought it was a hokey claim.
