  • Soloist model help?

    Hi all,

I found a very cool Jackson in a store but am hesitant to get it before I know exactly what im looking at...

From I can gather it seems to be a SL3 soloist.

    it has...

    Neck through, Scarf joint,
Seymour duncan bucker in the bridge,
seymour duncan single coil rails in the middle and neck position.
The bridge says Jackson (Not OFR like the spec sheet says???)
    sharkfin inlays
    Jackson on the headstock.
Heavy as hell body, flamed maple cap/veneer.
    Single vol and tone knobs,
    5 way switch

There is no model number on it, no "made in" on it.

There is a serial number punched onto the fretboard on the edge of the last fret. It reads 02XXXX.

Is this a Japan made guit? is it indeed a soloist SL3.
What would an approximate value for this be new? in $?

    Thanks for any help folks.

Yeah, that sounds like an SL3. I'm guessing it's a pre-2006 SL3, because that was the year they started putting the Floyd Rose FRT-O2000 on them. Before that, all SL3s came with the Jackson licensed floyd. Other than that, I think it should be exactly the same as the current version. And yes, it is Japan made.

I'm not totally familiar with $ prices, but the current ones seem to sell new for around $1100-1200 US.
    I like maple fretboards. :P
