  • DK2 Dinky volume knob

Does anyone hit the volume knob on these guitars
when playing aggressive? I don't understand why they'd
put the knob so close the playing area?

Everytime I play, I hit the knob and the volume slowly
    keeps lowering. lol

I got fed up and moved the knob below the tone control
knob {forstner bit to countersink, drill hole, relocate the pot}.

What to do with the existing hole from where the pot
    use to be?

    I installed a killswitch, lol

Normally open switch that shorts ground on the output
signal when the button is pressed.

This simple guitar mod works well.

I need to score some new pickups next

.... and learn to how play Buckethead Jordan ->

    Update: Pics

Using a forstner drill bit and drill press, a countersink on the right side is created.

Volume knob relocated and in the old location, the kill switch installed.

Another switch option with cap, I didn't like this type of switch as it makes a click when
pressed. [switch on the towel is the one I decided to use, makes no noise when pressed]

Just put a small plastic washer under the knob put the knob back on and let it rub the washer and problem fixed no need to drill a hole. Its your guitar.

I've always fanned my fingers out George Lynch style, so my fingers go right over the knob and never touch it.

hehe i'm going to do the same as you, move it to the tone control (taking that out as i never need it) Since the body's white i'm just going to get a tiny white circle sticker and place it over the existing hole.

There are other ways to fix the problem. Why drill another hole?

so instead of gradually turning down your volume when playing aggressively, you just turn it off?

I've also created a washer using the foam that comes with EMGs, works the same. Or you could get a smaller 5/8"x5/8" knob:

Me neither. I do that all the time. I've tried adjusting my hand posture to get around the problem, but it messes up my playing, so it is not a viable option. Jackson's positioning of the volume knob is IDIOTIC! I have to move the volume knob in 90% of the cases, to facilitate my playing.

What I do is to remove the tone knob and put the volume knob in its place. I just leave the hole, or cover it with a sticker.

However, I've discovered that on guitars with an archtop AND a non-recessed bridge, I don't have this problem. ...because the top of the volume knob ends up below the level of the strings!
