  • Will a Warmoth neck fit my guitar?

I sorta have a love hate relationship with my RX10D. Sometimes I love the neck, other times the fretboard wants to break my fingers. The lower edge of the fretboard just feels too 'hard', for lack of a better term.

I've mused over the idea of getting a replacement neck, however was put off by the cost. One popped up on ebay, and I'm considering it if the price doesn't jump too high. The seller told me the neck profile is the Warmoth standard thin. The ebony board is a huge bonus for me.

The headstock would be refinished, of course:

    Any ideas?

The only problem is that the Warmoth necks have a 2 3/16" neck heel, and the RX10D has a 2 1/4" pocket. There will be a small gap (1/16") which you can easily shim. So, yep, it'll work.

Would I be able to take my guitar and the neck to the average music store's tech, and he'd know what to do, or would I have to obtain the shim and such too?

I don't mean a guitar center, but an actual music store.

      What about the bolt pattern?

Not if you have a tech like this guy:

Seriously, the bolt pattern should be fine, but worst case is it'll have to be plugged and re-drilled.

You can also go to www.musikraft.com if you want a Strathead. They make the 2-1/4" wide heels.
