  • Direction of Shark Fins on RR3

some RR3 have reverse shark fin inlays.
I want a trans red with regular inlays. I've seen pix of the red one with both kinds of inlays.
can I specify that when I order?

I think the regular inlays were from previous years so you might have to get a used one or find a dealer with old stock

Sorry to reviving an old post...

When did they start having the reverse shark fins? In '05?
Also, there seems to be no way in contacting Jackson to ask if they're ever going to have the non-reversed shark fins on the RR3 again.

Nah, the change to reversed fins happened way earlier - I would guess some time between 1997 and 2001 - because it already had reverse fins when I started shopping for Jacksons (some time in 2001-2002).

If you absolutely want standard fins, how about the RX10D? That's a better looking axe IMO - and the only disadvatage to the RR3, being the jack in the lower wing.

If you're in Europe or AU/NZ, you could also search for a used RR-X. It's a lot like an RR-3, but with black hardware, standard sharkies, other pickups, and (unfortunately) the jack in the lower wing also.
