• Pickup questions about a PS-4 - Should'nt they be matched?

I recently purchased a used PS-4 for $130 on ebay. Given that the wiring is sometimes "lacking" I opened it up to check for any bad soldering and what not.

I took the time to measure both humbuckers and they both measured 8.75 ohms. My knowledge tells me that bridge humbuckers are usually wound hotter than neck humbuckers but this does not seem to be the case here.

On the other hand I also suspect that the bridge humbucker is not original. This would also explain the bad soldering that I saw within.

What are the stock humbuckers that came with the PS-4 and were they matched (bridge/neck)?

    Thanks!

PS4s have J70 for the neck pickup,J135 middle pickup and another J70 for the bridge pickup.

There are many cases where people use the same type of pickup in both positions. If you want lower output from the neck, you could lower the pickup (places it further from the strings).

Btw, the RR5 comes with two Duncan JB.
