• This is really urgent - Active pre amp

Hi Im sorry this might be the wrong forum.
Jackson soloist pro with an active preamp system. when I play it, there is a fizzing sound in the background that sounds like a dying battery, however i have tried a new battery, along with a dc 9v adaptor and the problem still remains. it sounds as if not enough of the signal is getting through to the output of the guitar. I have a gig in two days time, so to be honest i am screwed if i cant sort this out.
please help

Ok, rule number one - NEVER PLUG AN AC ADAPTOR (WALL WART) INTO YOUR GUITAR! You could be shot through the wall by the voltage.

As for the buzzing/fizzing sound, you probably have a bad solder connection on the board, or it could be dying. If you can swap the board and pickups out for something else for the gig, I'd do it, as it might crap out during the show.

newc, thanks lots and lots for the AC adaptor tip, I had never considered that (v foolish of me i know )
As far as the gig goes, crisis is averted, I've managed to borrow a les paul (admittedly it wont be the same, but i dont play full on metal anyway) so thats okay.
After much thought i have decided to take out the active section, for me it is more trouble than its worth, especialy as i dont use the mid boost at all anyway. Assuming the pickups are passive, I am taking it to my local specialist to be re wired without the preamp, possible with a coil splitter or other such fancy stuff.
thanks for your help

the 9v adaptor is regulated if that matters. of course it makes no odds now im going non-active.
thanks again and goodnight
