• Dinky: JS30 vs DX10

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a second guitar to go with my trusted Charvel Model 4.

I recently played a cheap JS1 and was very surprised by how nice it was. As i wanted another guitar with locking tremolo, i went to the Jackson web site and saw both, the JS30 and DX10 that seems in the same categorie and a few phone calls in local shops after, both the JS30 and DX10 are also similar in price.

SO can anyone comments on these guitars: JS30 and DX10???

Or should i spent a bit more and go for a model like the DXMG???

Hope to hear from some of you.

In a word. Yes.
Sharkfins and binding. Little differences that make the guitar look much more expensive and nice.

Well, he doesn't necessarily need it to look more expensive, just wants another guitar to go with his Model 4

I personally would put my vote on the DX10D for reliability, but I have almost no experience with the JS models..
Are the DXs still made in Japan? I can't seem to remember...

I tought about it but i do love the DX10 Transparent Red, the Shark Fin inlays and the reverse headstock.

As for the Duncan Designed, if ever i don't like the bridge i have a Dimarzio ToneZone that is waiting a new home...

So i'm mostly curious how "quality wise" are those cheap Jackson...

Didn't somebody have a DX10 in red for sale on this board a while back? Anyone?

Dude, go the DX10D for sure! The JS30's are just fine quality wise, but for just a pitance more$$ you can get a Japanese built alder guitar with sharkies and Duncan Design pups; that's much better value in my book than an Indian built Cedro guitar with dots and Indian pickups...

DXMG all the way. You won't regret it.

I'd have to vote for the DXMG too...it's just a great guitar all around. I owned a DX10 in the past and had no complaints, but if you can afford either, get the DXMG.

Tow Qs for you guys:

- What's the main difference between the DX10 and DXMG except the PUs???

- Would it be possible to install a Drop-D thing on the Floyds of these guitars???

sharkfins?

Like a D-tuna? Probably so.

Reverse Headstock
Pickups

I've owned one from 2001 and haven't got palns to sell it. It feels just right to me.

DXMG has bound neck + headstock and different pickups. I think it's the same quality but a much better looking guitar than a dx10d

Same with me...the necks between the two guitars didn't feel all that much different, but the DXMG just feels "right" for me. And I definitely prefered the HZs over the DD pups.
