Man, you are one trigger happy son of a gun

Hope ya like it... I have a Kramer Striker 7-string myself. I love everything about it except the pickups.
It may take a little adjustment at first with the wider neck/fretboard, but you'll get used to it no problem.

7 Strings are cool. Leave it in standard tuning and get the grunge metal sound (which I'm not a fan of, but when I'm playing it, it's cool), or tune the low B up to an A and have some fun. Plus you will look cool with that guitar either sitin' or standing. Congrats. Scott's a great guy!

Re: Pulled the trigger...

I tune my seven a whole step down, with 10-46 strings and a 56 on the low string. It kicks a lot of ass that way, except the pickups are a little too muffled...

I think I will try a couple of things...
difference will be how comfortable I am with the extra string

Re: Pulled the trigger...

I play seven-string almost exclusively now. Give it some time when you first start. At first, you'll be hittin' that damn B string all the time when you really mean to hit the low E, but you'll come around after a little while.

As one form of starter "exercise," I recommend practicing some of your favorite 6-string songs on the seven--totally ignoring the low B--so that you can become accustomed to not hitting the low-B when you mean to hit the E.

Eventually, you'll figure out how to incorporate lots of killer stuff on the low B, and you'll wonder how the hell you ever got along with only six strings!

Re: Pulled the trigger...

After awhile, you'll be able to do that, if you practice diligently on the seven. Eventually, the six-string will feel insubstantial--almost like a toy. I still pick up my one remaining six-string occasionally, though I'm thinking of selling it. But once you've got the 7-string down, playing six-string is almost pointless, since you can do all of the same material on a 7-string, plus having the option of playing the low-B
