Hi -

I want to get the collective wisdom before embarking on this journey. I want to upgrade the JT580 to a Gotoh. But I have no idea about the size of nut and the tuners. I’ve read that Gotoh 381s are drop in replacements.

You have to watch the string lock screw length. I'm assuming your DK2 has a JT580LP? If so I know the OFR string locks are longer. I'd recommend the Gotoh 1996T for the money but I suspect the string locks would be too long. Jackson did have the JT500 which always reminded me of a Schaller clone bridge after the JT580LP. For that one I'd go with a Schaller to replace. If there's nothing wrong with the JT580LP I wouldn't see a real need in replacing it. I wish Henrik's tremolo info project was still online. I have a copy of it saved, and I still refer to it.
