  • Anyone know about this "Grover Jackson Soloist Standard" I bought?

    Hi everyone,

Anyone know about this "Grover Jackson Soloist Standard" I bought?

So yeah I searched my ass off. Can't find anything with this silver hardware, silver floating trem, and looks like "Duncan Designed" pickups. Neck-through also.

    https://reverb.com/item/34010747-jac...andard-90s-trd

I'm currently waiting for it to arrive.

    Thanks for your time!

Welcome to the forum. Looks legit. Grover Jackson was the name used on Japanese guitars at the time that were made in and for the Japanese market (for some reason, they couldn't just use the name Jackson). The Grover Jackson line later on turned into Jackson Stars.

The guitar looks legit. Not sure of the exact model name, though. That satin brushed silver hardware was used on quite a few guitars back in the mid to late '90s.

      Welcome! Investigate these two websites:

      https://mechas64castles.net/CharvelJ...html#Grover90s

      and

      https://guitarinside.com/Jackson_models#Grover_Jackson

See if you can identify the precise model name/number based on the descriptions listed there. If your guitar doesn't match anything listed there, I would not be surprised, because the Grover Jackson and Jackson Stars brands aren't as well-known outside of Japan and thus there may be models and examples not yet cataloged or documented.

If it helps in your search and identification, the hardware color looks to be brushed chrome, and the tremolo is basically a Takeuchi-made, Grover Jackson branded JT580LP.

I don't know if there was a difference between Jackson and Grover Jackson, but didn't Jackson call it Brushed Pewter?

If I remember right it was "Brushed Satin". I had an RX10D with the same color hardware years ago. I'll look in my spare parts bin as I had to order a tuner for it from Jackson and I think I still have the packaging they shipped it in.

I am not going to doubt your memory (especially since I checked the catalogs and Satin Chrome was a thing).
But there are a few web references to the Brushed Pewter, including one by me on here JCF in 2016.
If I remember correctly - the brushed pewter (or whatever it was actually called), was far too expensive to justify continuing. So, it was used only a short time.

*oddly enough, this is a DR3 with Brushed Pewter. Which is the guitar I had with Brushed Pewter. I wonder if it was model specific?

Here you go. I still had the package the tuner came in.

Picture of the Rhoads and it's satin hardware. It's the one on the right.

Looks like pianoguyy has it. "Satin Chrome" it is. http://www.yourshoppingnetwork.com/s...=472636&priv=0

The only thing that looks pewter on there are the tuner buttons. I don't remember Jackson ever using brushed pewter on anything. They used brushed chrome from what I remember.

Alright I figured out it has to be a Grover Jackson SL-cu90 / HH

                  This site is very helpful:
