They were made for Japanese market since they couldnt use the Jackson name. It was Grover Jackson at first and then changed to Jackson Stars.

So nothing to do with Jackson. How do they compare to a professional series etc.

Copying from my post on UG, info found on catalog + Japanese Jackson text board (might be 2ch, can't remember) + Russian forum. These are the post-Professional series models, before it had a different system entirely, with less models:

            Naming scheme: [Model].[Series]-[Original RRP]. Example, KV.D/E-155 = King V, Delight-EMG series, 155k Yen RRP.

            >Supreme Series. 350k yen RRP, 330k for the Soloist US Custom Shop-made equivalent. Comes in Soloist, Rhoads and Kelly.

Neck Through, Mahogany Neck, Flame Maple top, Ebony, OFR, Gold HW. Mahogany for RR/KE, Ash for SL. These mainly fill niches the US Custom Shop-made Artist Signature line didn't.

            >Impression. 195k for Kelly/Rhoads/King V, 170k for hard tail Rhoads, 190k for Soloist, 200k for Kelly Bass/Eliminator Bass

Old Professional Pro series equivalent after it got cut. Mostly poplar, Ash for the Soloist and Eliminator Bass. Maple Neck, NT, Ebony, OFR for the guitar, Kahler 2440 for the Bass.

            >Delight. 120k for Rhoads/Kelly/King V, 115k for Soloists (SSH and HH), 160k for Dinky, 100 for Eliminator Bass.

Seems to be higher end than the XL Professional in the price bracket. Dinky was top of the line with equivalent specs to the Impression Soloist, the lower cost probably came down to the bolt on neck. Rest are poplar body, maple neck, rosewood and neckthrough, with a schaller trem (JT-590 probably). Another cost cutting measure in this line is that only the bridge pickups are Duncans, the neck are J50N/J100 for the SSH soloist.

            >Delight-EMG. 155k, 150k for Soloist

Same specs as above, EMG instead of Duncan, but a 30k yen difference (~250 USD) can't just be an extra after-market pickup in the neck

            >Progress. 70k for Fusion (Superstrat with Gibson scale), 80k for Stealth (Ibanez S-series equivalent), 75k for Eliminator Bass, 85k for Kelly Bass. Rest are divided into 75k and 85k variant

10k are for Mahogany body with Quilted Maple top vs Poplar body, Stealth and Fusion has no price difference between the two, but no Maple top. Bolt-on unbound maple neck, rosewood, TRS-Pro, Jackson PUs.

            >Ambition

Bottom line. Lowest priced one has TRS-505, else TRS-Pro, Sharkfin only on the more expensive (60-65k) Dinky, Rhoads and Kelly. Poplar body, maple unbound neck, rosewood fretboard.

Have a model name and/or some other specs about it? Might be on my database. (Click the Grover Jackson shortcut)

The red one? That's a RR.P-75 from the Progress series. 75k yen retail price (383 pound give or take with the 1996 exchange rate, equivalent to 724 pound now). Maple/Rosewood/Sharkies, TRS Pro bridge, J-90C neck, J-50BC bridge, black hardware, 2V 1T, 3W toggle switch, metallic dark red.

Spec sheet doesn't show whether or not it has bindings, but I've seen P-series with and without them.

                  Nice work on your database!

By the way, have you ever seen an Arched-Top Custom with Floyd, apart from in the catalogues?

No, unfortunately the catalogs can’t be trusted and I try to make a note on that when possible. There’s lots floating around that never showed in any catalogue too. Fun stuff!

Cool! Have you got any info on any non-catalogue models?
Everything I've had so far checks out catalogue wise: Soloist Arched-Top Custom 1991 (TOM), three Soloist Standards '92-3, and a Soloist Jr 1990.

I have a few but it's not too exciting. A forum member on another site had a Charvel version of the Jackson TBX bass I was able to get some pictures of and document. I also discovered a few things but random ebay searches. There's a Charvette labeled version of a cheaper (and obscure in it's own right) Charvel bass. There are some special edition Charvel Model series I never knew of too. Plus a few other Japanese only stuff.

Cool... here's an odd one I discovered yesterday - seems to be a Jackson version of a Charvel 475 from the first catalogue. Haven't seen it in any others.

HSS with (assumingly stock) Reflex pickups!
